I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to become more focused in some areas of my life. I want to be able to contribute to open-source projects, including Ubuntu, but I realized that I don’t know enough about any single project to really dive in and work on the code. I need to find a single project to contribute (codewise) to.
I sometimes feel that there’s this technological void in my life, with a desire to work on a project of some sort. The big problem is that I have diverse interests: user experience, information security, embedded systems/robotics, etc. I know it’s a ridiculous statement to make, but even at 25, I feel like I’m behind where I’d like to be in my life.
How do you all find your niche, and satisfy that urge? Anyone got a favorite project that needs some love?

When I read your last comment. something that popped into my mind was gwibber. there have been tonnes of bugs over the past month that no body came to fix. gwibber now being core part of ubuntu I would say your help would be really appreciated.
You can look into the elementary projects. There is alot happening with zeitgeist there so we could use a helping hand. If you like robotis and AI you could jump into some zeitgeist development where we associate files etc. find us as #zeitgeist on freenode
I completely comprehend your feelings
My job is embedded-related (kernel, driver, and other low-level stuff), my programming language love is Python, lately I’m interesting in graphics, SVG and html5.0, with parenthesis on studying (not really in deep) functional programming, usabilty, web-stuff, and sysadmins.
moreover, I’m 30, so you’ve still 5year to think what you’d want to be
Jokes apart, I think that having a lot of different interests is cool, not really a downside of your personality.
Yes, pragmaticallly there’s a problem in being able to conclude every single project, I feel it difficult, cause when I’m deeply inside one, I just start in studying completely different thing, doesn’t this happen to you?
